Account & subscription

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, choose Banora, and tap Cancel Subscription. Apple handles all billing for App Store subscriptions, so we can't cancel for you. You can also manage it at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases go through Apple, not us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Banora charge, and request a refund. Apple decides each case on its own terms.

What's included in the free tier?

The free tier gives you 15 voice captures per month and access to every feature in Banora — sorting, nudges, resurfacing, JSON export. Banora Pro removes the capture limit.

Using Banora

What languages does Banora support?

Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, so it supports the languages your iPhone supports for dictation — dozens, including most major European and Asian languages. Categorization and nudges currently work best in English; other languages will work but the quality is more uneven. We'd rather be honest about that than oversell it.

Why was my recording put in the wrong category?

Move it manually — long-press the thought and pick the right category. Those corrections are not wasted: they're how Banora learns your preferences over time, so the next similar thought tends to land in the right place.

Why didn't I get a nudge?

Nudges resurface quotable sentences from older entries when something in your recent thinking connects back to them. If you've just started, there isn't enough material yet — give it a week or two of regular recording and they'll start to appear.

Can I export my notes?

Yes. In the app, go to Settings → Profile → Export Data. You'll get a JSON file with your thoughts and the categories you've organized them into. If you'd rather receive the export by email, write to hi@banora.dev — under GDPR you have a right to a portable copy of your data.

Privacy & data

Is my voice used to train AI?

No. Your audio is transcribed on your device and the file is deleted within seconds — it never leaves your iPhone. The transcript text sent to OpenAI for sorting is processed with model training disabled and API logging disabled on our account. See the Privacy Policy, section 5 for the configuration in detail.

How long are my audio recordings kept?

Audio is processed and deleted on your device within seconds of being transcribed. We never receive or store the audio file. Transcripts and the embeddings used to power similarity search stay until you delete the thought or your account. See the Privacy Policy, section 7.

Where is my data stored?

Your account, transcripts, categories and corrections live on Supabase in London, UK — covered by the EU adequacy decision for the UK. AI processing happens on OpenAI in the United States under EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The full processor list is in the Privacy Policy, section 5.

Deleting your account

Account deletion is built into the app — no email request needed. Open Banora and go to:

Settings → Profile → Delete Account

When you confirm, we erase your account, all your thoughts, your categories, and the corrections you've made. Pseudonymous subscription event records are retained separately for 10 years to comply with German tax law; they contain no name, email, or thought content. The Privacy Policy, section 7 spells out exactly what is removed and what is kept.

If the in-app delete doesn't work for any reason, email hi@banora.dev from the address tied to your account and we'll delete it for you.
